Making the decision to enter therapy often comes out of a sense of struggle in one’s current circumstances, be they inner or outer dilemmas. The capacity to ask for assistance when one’s coping mechanisms do not meet the demands of life any longer takes a great deal of courage. It is at moments such as these that real growth and change are possible. Therapy is a process that can be useful for those who feel stuck in old patterns. Working together in a safe and open space has been helpful and productive for my patients, allowing them to gain access to a sense of worth and fullness they didn’t know was possible.
